The latest high-rise to loom over Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago’s Gold Coast is getting its foundation these days.
8 East Huron is a Valerio Dewalt Train Associates design for CA Ventures and Harlem Irving Companies. When complete, it will be 26 stories tall, with 102 apartments, 2,700 square feet of retail space, and 31 parking spaces even though it’s, quite literally, on top of the CTA Red Line. But then again “luxury” and “Red Line” are like cats and bathwater.
Gold Coast Spy Tim filled our tip line this time with photos of the ongoing construction. You can see how the demolition of 4 East Huron and 8 East Huron left a single orphan greystone on East Huron Street that will be right up against its shiny and outsized new neighbor.
If you’re into video, here’s a quick aerial tour of the construction zone, from the good folks at Harlem Irving.
