A few days ago, CIM Group, based in Los Angeles, made headlines around the world when it splashed out $240 million to buy Chicago’s storied Tribune Tower. In all the noise about the Streeterville purchase, another CIM announcement got lost in the hullabaloo.
Specifically, that the new residential tower at 1001 South State Street is now open for business. It was co-developed by CIM Group of Chicago’s Golub & Company, designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz, and Walsh Construction did the heavy lifting.
The glass-clad building features lots of great curves and angles, offering residents a great variety of interesting views. It’s also the first new apartment building in Chicago that we’re aware of that includes a fully-equipped maker space. (If you know of another, please let it be known in the comments section below.)
