West Loop Goes From Zero to Two Hotels Overnight

It’s kind of strange to think of it, but until just a few days ago, there was no hotel in theWest Loop.  The neighborhood smack in the middle of all things Chicago has seen tremendous development in the last ten years, but until the Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites hotel sandwich opened at 108 North Jefferson Street, you had to go to another neighborhood to lay your head.

Now, to be clear, we’re talking about the actual West Loop here: the portion of the city north of Congress Parkway, east of the Kennedy Expressway, south of Lake Street, and west of the Chicago River. Not the real estate agent “West Loop” that encompasses everything from Merchandise Mart to Chinatown to pretty much suburban Oak Park, if it’ll help make a sale.

The new combo hotel building brings 336 new keys to downtown Chicago, in an area that really could use a few more.  It’s now using the address 116 North Jefferson.  More information in the press release below.
