Stick a Skyline in Someone’s Stocking

When looking for Christmas gifts for the architecture enthusiast in your life, Legos have been a go-to staple for decades.  Now there’s a new reason to risk stepping on the little bricklets while walking around the house barefoot in the middle of the night.

The company that makes the best thing to come out of Denmark since diminutive sea brides has announced that it’s putting out a new Lego set about Chicago.

Lego’s clicked Chicago bricks before, with the Willis Tower, John Hancock Center, and other kits.  But this time it’s put together an ensemble cast in a 444-piece pick-of-the-litter set.  Included are the two previously mentioned towers, plus the Wrigley Building, the Michigan Avenue Bridge, 333 South Wabash (formerly the CNA Center) and even an itty bitty Cloud Gate.

The set will set you back about ten cents a brick (you do the math), and will initially only be available at the Michigan Avenue Lego Store, the Chicago Architecture Foundation in The Loop, and the Legoland Discovery Center out in the ‘burbs.  It’ll go nationwide after the holidays.
