Streeterville’s newest skyscraper is making its presence known in the neighborhood skyline.
New photos sent in by Joe Zekas over at YoChicago! show One Bennett Park has reached at least its 40th floor, and is probably taller than that by the time you read this.
1BP, as its friends call it, will eventually reach 70 stories, and over 820 feet in height. Along with Building I at Lakeshore East, and the Vista Tower, it is among three skyscrapers very near the lake shore that are expected to top 800 feet.
With any luck, those three will be joined by a fourth monster tower at the nearby site of the (avert your eyes when you say it) failed Chicago Spire. The Spire site is now owned by Related Midwest, the same company that owns One Bennett. We’d previously been told to expect to hear something about that location in the next couple of months. But the recent announcement of four new big skyscrapers at Lakeshore East makes one wonder if that will make Related’s hole in the ground worth a little more money so whatever it’s got planned can be bigger, or at least better, than originally planned and delay any upcoming announcements.
